couple apisto updates

Triple red female and fry, then daddy triple red

baenschi female with fry:

tefe blue hitting maturity, pretty nice male I think! Hopefully he and his ladywill be getting it on soon

also have fry in the cac orange tank, but they were not cooperating when I had the camera out. My wild guy killed his lady, need to get hima new one I really wanted fry from them too.

nice! i wish i had gotten into apistos a long time ago. i just got a group of 6 A. cf. agassizii "Alenquer" (Net/Netz). i have one larger male and im not sure of the sex on the others. great pics. i hope to have a few different species in the future

i find them to be very rewarding fish (except when they kill each other )

aquaticclarity is getting a ton of wild apistos in selling for a really nice price. these are extremely tough to get so if you have room give him a shout...

they all spawn like clockworks, its just a matter of raising the fry/pulling the parents. This time I have removed the males. Seems like once the fry become food seeking, the female will pick off the babies to remove competition for spawning. She is quickly on eggs again. I figured its easiest to remove the male (and hopefully the spawning trigger) than to try and fish out 100+ fry from a heavily planted tank. After teh fry get to decent size, I will remove them to grow out and replace the male. Hopefully all goes well!
