Sumps are always great for filtration. Just align the size of the pump on the sump with the size of your tank. You want the water volume to turnover 5-10 times per hr.

I say get a group of both and put in the tank to grow out together. as they mature, theyll figure things out on their own. I think that would be alot easier than trying to sex an Oscar
