Sorry to hear you lost him. Think you will get one again, or do the Amphs have just as good a personality, etc?I’ve got them about 17 months ago. I can be guilty of heavy feeding sometimes . Sadly I no longer have my big umbee. He died from some type of swim bladder issue. Now all I keep are Amphilophus.
Right now I'm just totally into Amphs and don't see that changing anytime soon. But you never know in this hobby.Sorry to hear you lost him. Think you will get one again, or do the Amphs have just as good a personality, etc?
keith you mind posting your beast midas? How long did it take you to get them to 10/11"? I'm going on almost 20 months since I got 4 amphs in the 4-5" range and they are now 9-11". It seems like they would have grown faster in my 300 gallon, since I have had them in smaller tanks in the past and they seemed to grow faster. That said, in the past I kept them warmer and power fed - plus almost always the dominant fish, vs. one of many.
BTW, do you still have your big Umbee?
