426hemi, Is it a metal trough or a plastic one? The metal ones need a liner or a coating before using for fish as most are galvinized and that leads to zinc poisoning, The fish build it up in their systems with only minor symptoms until it is too late them start loosing weight, gasping and flashing, sloughing excess slime, shimmying, and then die, all in the course of a couple days.

Sorry to derail, but this is incorrect. I have used a 330g galvanized metal stock tank for just over 4 years with no il effects to my fish. used to have it stocked with cichlids I grew out (oscars, midas, buttikoferi, rd's severums, trimac, black belt) none of wich ever had problems eating or showed any signs of any problems (no HITH or anything) I just got rid of the cichlids for a couple Large mouth bass (2 18" and 3 22") 2 pacu and a 10" bullhead cat. Again, I'm not trying to say zinc isnt harmful, but it diddnt hurt anything I've kept in the tank. And I constantly scrape the tank to get rid of algae, and also move the clay pots around a lot and none of the coating has ever scratched off and rusted. Hope that helps!

That was a butiful koi sorry for ur lose was it a butterfly kinda looks lik it?
