Looks good bro

Partially, yes. Part of the reason is i couldn't really think of anything else to name it and that sounded kewl. Most of the fish I am puttin into them are SA cichlids, a few of them are CA cichlids. SOoooo the theme is SA/CA cichlids. Not much I can do with these two tanks because they are relatively small, but they are incorporated into a much larger plan. When i get the larger tanks gonna stock them with TONS of DW....SA native plants, varius things. Gonna try to make it look like blackwater to a certain extent....so yeah, i guess you could say I'm gonna do an amazon biotope! :D

cool ideas! actually you can also do a mini biotope with smaller tanks..tetras, apistos, rams, small plecos/catfishes/cories...will be totally cool oso...
remember to show us when it all happen! :D

I'm still debating if i want to do that to these smaller tanks or just use them for grow out. They are gonna be HELLA over stocked for a couple of months...41 fish actually..5 diff. species...haha...and a turtle..... Thats why I added the plants to help keep down the nitrates/nitrites/ammonia, added the XPI, and am gonna be doing lots of water changes. So makin it a biotope is gonna have to wait till i got more room...haha.

Very cool setup.

However, it's a bit complicated for two small tanks and most likely uses too much electrical juice for the amount of bio load involved. Some folks prefer keeping it simple.

You can probably use the lower level for another tank and more fish with simpler and cheaper filtering systems and still have less resource usage.

It's a good illustration though of DIY advanced systems.

The tanks are drilled so i have to have a wet/dry for them. Was gonna have three tanks and then a wet/dry but it didn't fit the budget at the time. The bioload is gonna be pretty high, so I need as much filtration as possible. Really not using that much juice though...;). All its got is a pump, a Filstart Rena XP I, a 250watt heater....and thats it...haha. No lights, because its in a sunroom. Only having to use one heater cuz the tanks are linked together so it heats both of them. Plants get enough light, i'm alright with no lights. Its actually pretty simple. I was thinkin of addin another filter to the tanks though because the bioload is gonna be SO FREAKIN high for a few weeks/months....

I hear yaz though, I woulda never used a wet/dry set up on such small tanks, but I figured it will help to keep the tanks cleaner and safer since they will be over stocked, so i aimed for more than enough filtration.
