COVETED fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
fire eels and gar =D Thats what my hubby and I intend to upgrade too. THe gar are just magestic. and the fire eels take the cake for attention hounds. The gars always catch peoples eyes... then the fire eels spot humans and come raceing out to beg like puppies and interact with everyone. We're also looking at adding a pike cichlid to the mix for a mid-dweller if everyone can play nice. I've also heard african arrowanas make nice tank-mates for these guys.

Black aro (since I'm in the US and Asians are out of the question), Geophagus, any black ray, dats, nice green terrors, a nice OSCAR...I can respect any fish that is taken care of the right way. The only fish that I really do not care for would be the goofy random sa/ca hybrids that pop up in everyone's 125g, but to each his own!

Oooh, Loving the ideas.. Hadn't really thought of the fact that my fire eels are going to need a huge home, they could certainly go in there. Oh they are attention hounds. Just starting to like all people, they know my footsteps and come right out when I'm in the room but my husband watched me feeding them tonight and had to admit they are super cool.
I'm starting lists, this is going to be one of my first projects when we move :)

gar. to be exact, medius, croc I through III, spotted, LNG, cuban, trop and shortys

I know various arowanas and RTCs or other big cats are always named.. I'm wondering, what kind of fish do you covet?
If I had say, a 500g tank, for a reading room, what do you think should go in it?
I need a COVETED fish (not illegal in the US) to put in it. The best idea so far has been an electric eel. That could work, and we are looking for a single specimen or something really awesome. We already have an electric cat that could occupy it, but we're hoping to find something more unusual. Also, something that won't need to move into a bigger tank.
Currently, we HAVE the Ecat or fire eels that we could put into it, but hubby is planning on a big natives pond (sunfish), and he wants something cool and, in his words, "bizarre" for our reading room.

So, if possible, I want a "weird" fish, potentially a single specimin fish, for a 300-800 gallon tank.
Something "cool" and unusual, as he said.

We are already planning a few other large tanks for the stuff we have, but he wants something really strange and wants a big tank just to appreciate the weirdness of whatever he puts in it.

Suggestions?
Think crazy. Can be freshwater, brackish, or salt. Looking for ideas

What do you covet most?:headbang2

if i had a huge tank for a single specimen i'd go with a dorado, h.armatus or vittatus tiger fish. monster characins.. but that's just me..
