Cownose rays just arrived!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im running two RK2 PE 25's and they were the best investment I have made. I notice that the Solar skimmers are not recirculating skimmers and they do not have the saltwater washdown nozzle which the RK2 skimmers do. The sw washdown is one of my favourite features improving skimming not to mention saving cleaning time.

The RK2 unit we just put in runs twin timers on two zones of wash down. Fresh on the outside of the collector, and saltwater down the center of the chimney.

Also, the RK2 units are full counter current set ups, using water circulating one was, while the air injection spins in the opposite direction (via a shorter secondary internal chamber), creating a more consistant foam.

Latest addition to the tank! A sexy young guitarfish. It was sold to me as a shovelnose guitarfish, but after comparing markings/photos, and the dealer saying the ray came from Australia, I believe it to be a sharpnose guitarfish - glaucostegus granulatus - http://fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=8731

I just saw something simular yesterday at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and it was called a Fiddler Stingray and it was around 4' long. Had some very cool markings, they also had some good size blue dot rays that were near 4' long also, didnt know they get that big according to stats online but I saw them. They had the other kind of bluedots also with more of a triangular shape and there were some in the 3' range.
