Cr. cf lugubris "Manchada"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that's cool, Jon. what happened with your little party? never heard anything back from you.

Killerfish - yeah she's from Aqua Imports/Boulder. We lucked out to find such a unique good-sized pike in great shape!

Paul - decided not to have the party, will let you know next time we're having a get-together.

Mark ~ thx. for your comments/thoughts on 'cadaver' pikes. Our 'red-face' lugubris has the bright red eyelids also. He placed 3rd in class last July @ ACA Atlanta. Will get some better pics of him posted, curious to see yours of the "Calmeta" pike

Nice looking pike MTN PIKE. Great pick up for sure. I am interested in the reasoning as well for the coloration of this pike. All of formentioned information is very interesting.

dang, i'm glad i wasn't aware of this one, lol. i have nowhere to put it but i probably would have picked it up anyway

These are pics of Bastardfish's pike taken over a year ago. It is a male. I saw a female in a CA pet store about the same time as these pics were taken. The fish is fairly unremarkeble with the exception of its eyes and ventral fins which are bright red. This fish looks like your Manchada pike but with the skin issue.

Very interesting but I am still of the opinion that it is not specific to a single race or species of pike but rather a condition that any pike can contract and is a disease or parasite that causes the unique look.

I've done some checking with other Pikeafishanados and have heard there is a collection area for this "Manchada" pike type. Also have been told it could be a skin condition some predators have, not just lugubris but also lacustris pikes, as well as other fish. Will post more info as it comes in!

R.I.P. ~ yesterday she was lying on the bottom, gone to the 'Big River in the Sky'.
We were thinking of taking her to the ACA this summer but about a month before that date she started getting zombie growth on her dorsal, one fungus-looking growth on the dorsal, and then a bloody tumor behind that. was still very healthy & active, with the same appetite. Despite water changes, care, and some meds - she just died! AHHHH ~ life with Pikes......

aww, man, so sad. :( i've been losing a lot of fish lately
