cr. notopthalmus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the rings around the ocelli are red. the pictures seem to make them turn kinda orangish.

thanks for all the compliments also. its good to know my first real attempt at a planted tank turned out alright.

big pic - definitely willing to here about the guy in winnipeg - i might be heading to shark aquarium this weekend so i might be able to try to pick up a male and put him in my spare 10 gallon til hes cured and can go in with the ladies

If it were me, I would grab a few males, my experience with creni's shows that the females are as mean if not more than males, especially when the female is established first! Can't wait to hear about a spawn :D LOL

:iagree:

BTW....my 'friend' here in KC has bred his already several times. :) I suppose I should just ask him how he did it. Hahaha. He was offering to sell me some of the babies a couple of months ago. He got his from the same source I got mine. :)

all this talk has convinced me to go get some males. going to get them sunday. hopefully i can find a few healthy ones in the tank. i think they had about 50 of them last time i was there.

peanut how much did he want for babies? and would he be willing to ship to iowa? im new to getting fish from out of town. it would be popping my cherry if i did. i would just want him to ship a few. sorry didnt mean to jack the thread.
beautiful notos i wish i could snap some pics of my compressicus hes so sexay. or i wish i could find me a female just so he isnt so lonely

checked out the males yesterday and it would appear that they are not notos. the males are not displaying the extended front rays on the dorsal fin.

going to get some males tomorrow tho. hopefully i can get a pair.

ok so im taking suggestions on whats the best way to achieve success. i have two tanks at my disposal. a 40g and a 20g long, and a 10g which id rather not setup but might have to. stock lists are as follows:

40g: apisto bitaeniata, firemouth, 3 sd's, gold gourami, pleco

20g long: apisto cacatouides, 2 female notos, flying fox, pigmy cory, satanopercna daemon, clown loach

the question is how to arrange the fish to make everything work. i also have two tank dividers. heres my thought process. plus the apisto cacatouides is getting roughed up in the 20 already.

add tank divider to 40g. move over satanopercna daemon and apisto cacatouides, try to beef up the daemon so he can hold his own against the firemouth.

then add the 2 male notos into the 20g with the females and the other dither fish. then hope for the best and monitor the pikes behavior. does that sound like a good idea? is the 20g long large enough for all 4? or should i try them seperately in pairs
