That's what it looks like to me to. If it makes you feel better they are mostly scavengers and alga eaters so it shouldn't hurt any of your critters. If you put it in your fuge you might have to keep a close eye on your cheato as it will rather enjoy trimming it for you! You just may have to add more for it but, in the end it doesn't much matter if nutrients are locked up in a crab or in a plant. You might have to add more cheato for it from time to time though. They are good eating but, imho a pet is a pet be it a cow or a crab.

Well, my little stony called Brutus molted last night and his new shell is 4.5 wide!

I will try to get a pic of my little monster!

As for the scavenger....uhhh, no! He is a methodical hunter/killer! He eats anything I put in that tank, be it invertebrate of ant type or fish. A mantis shrimp would kill Brutus though, so no mantis battles. He is so strong he scares me!

I wrestle with him with a plastic toothbrush so his big claws don't get atrophy. He loves it!( I think) He sees me and comes to the glass with his claws open and we wrestle for just a few moments gently, so I don't hurt him, but he is so strong that he has taken the toothbrush straight out of my hands and run to the back of the tank with his trophy! He can move 5lbs. rocks too! Scary!

The craziest thing this crab does is redecorate his tank! I know when he is going to molt because he builds a cave with every piece of rock, shell, coral in his tank! He then goes behind that and molts! He likes his privacy when he is undressing!!!!

This crab is wild! The best SW pet I have had in 25 years! What an experience! He is so interactive! I wish all of you could see him in person!
 
Hi Fire, haven't run into you in ages. Glad to see Brutus is still alive and doing well.
 
Here is an update of Brutus!!!

Now he is getting much bigger! He has molted several times successfully and now eats one 3 inch fish per day! Look at these shots...
