crack repair

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When you silicone the repair glass, apply the silicone in wavey lines to get full coverage. It will spread and make a uniform layer when you apply pressure. Swipe around the edges with your finger while the silicone is still fluid. This type of repair absolutely works on bottom panels only. If done properly, it will not fail. Put a weight on the repair glass to ensure a good bond with no air bubbles. You really only need one panel on the inside of the tank. The one you plan to add underneath is not necessary.

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to respond. I did indeed do pretty much exactly what bigfishnut had said. I had a pane of glass cut to 1/8" smaller than the recessed portion of the bottome and siliconed it on top of the existing bottom glass. I used pretty much an entire tube of silicone under and around the new glass. Then I place bags of sand on top of the new glass and allowed it to sit for 48 hours. I stood inside the aquarium a couple of times along the way. Everything held and so far so good. Not even a drop of leak so far. I've included a couple of photos for fun. Thank all of you for your input.20770461_1410325309004085_7950663506718926154_n.jpg 20799177_1410324899004126_3529333694558827283_n.jpg 20799949_1410325509004065_2193854181753415895_n.jpg

Hey guys, have a somewhat similar issue, picked up this 130 gallon for free off a friend, however it has this crack, wondering if there's anything i can do to fix the issue, the crack doesn't touch the seal

Looks like a chip, not a crack. If it's just a chip you'll be ok. If it's a crack you'll need to replace the panel. Only a crack in the bottom can be patched.
