cracked tank repair...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have seen a way to repair cracks that would certainly add more strength than a simple silicon "weld." If you can get a piece of glass that will cover the length of the crack and really silicon that on well. Do that on both sides of the glass (inside and outside). This will at least offer more structural strength.

I have 8 aquariums I fixed cracks in. Mjmc advise is the closest I found to work. But I never had to put a patch on the outside I just put one on the inside work. But if the crack has not ran its coarce it will just keep going untill it does weather it's patched or not.(I had it happen)

your flirtin with disaster unless you get the glass replaced. is it really worth risking your fish's lives just because you wanna save some money?

...and not to mention the damage 90 gallons is going to cause to your floor/house
you will be out way more than a hundred bucks if it goes on ya.

well.. first off, the crack ran its course.. I filled the tank and let it sit for 3 days without a drip.

..and then I bought a ball python and decided to make it a reptile tank :D

seriously though thanks for all the quick replies and advice. I did take it to heart and I thought about it since I first posted the message, and I think I made the best decision.. ..I always wanted a python anyway. :D

find my "world, meet Doom" thread in the reptiles.. I'm going to borrow my brother's Finepix camera on feeding day.. ...or I might break out the miniDV..

I think you made the right choice in keeping that tank dry. Good luck with your new tank.

did you try any of these guys????, a quick googling...google is your friend...

lol... the only place in that list that's reasonably affordable is Bushey Radiator and Auto Glass. ...I get glass from them all the time... they're significantly less than anyone else... still more than I wanted to pay.. plus the time to replace the pane... it's better the way it is. I love my new snake.

if you want Stained Glass, call Hopfensperger's.. they make stuff for churches.. I had Hoppy as an art teacher in high school. I don't know why you wasted your time really.. I've only lived in this area for 23 years.

well thats good to know but i live in ontario... lol, just trying to help you. just remember if you ever decide to turn your terrerume back for fishies to change the silicone, reptiles do a number on it.

Now erts see a picture of the snakie.
