hello i got pics and a discription of exactly whats wrong with this tank in the general discussions bored as cracked tank help me out pleez it a 8'2'2 tank glass i just got it yesterday and ended up crack a euro brace and the bottom right of the bottom has a like 3 inch crack in it and a chip in the same spot on the same side of the tank if you'r handy with replacing glass on a tank this will be a great deal for you i live in mass on cape cod and i'm probaully going to smash it if i go and look at it one more time i saw the euro brace crack and new it was there when i bought it and wasn't concerned but now the bottom is brok so if you got 4 bills and want to fix this tank it's brand new never even filled with water it's from glass cages and was built on 10/06 come and get it and no i will not lift a finger to move it i've allready done enough damage to it and won't be respnsible for any further. Like i said there pics of the damage to it in the generall discussions bored under cracked tank help me pleez also my number is 1-774-212-1405 and my email is heffesuita@yahoo.com again if you'r handy with fixing tanks and want a brand new tank and a prodject to work on come get it ai't hope to talk to you soon.

pics the first two pics are of the top front euro brace of the tank the glass brace in the front is the only thing that is cracked in this pic the one that runs under it to the back of the tank is not craced or broke at all just the one on the front of the tank. The next couple pics are of the bottom glass sheet it is cracked on the far right side about 3 inches long and is cracked directly under the the inside euro glass brace the brace it's self is not cracked only the bottom so the crack does not go into the tank. and the last pic is of the chick on the side the chip is right beside the crack on the bottom and is only on the bottom sheet does not effect anything else. So here's the pics you decide 400 bucks or make me a offer but i'm not fixing it i don't have the skills and i'l not paying some one to fix it so come and get it and again i said it's like 400 pounds and in my basement and i won't lift a fingure to move it not because i'm lazy or can't but because it's broke because of me moving it so i'm not going to be reasponible in any way for any more damage to the tank. thanks for looking

Sincerely.

Hello out there is any one interested it's not that bad realy

come on guys all you fish heads on here and no one know's how to fix a tank i'm trully not impressed

If i was anywhere near you i would scoop it up in a second or even withing 1000km... but as far as repair goes, toy can remove that broken peice and replace it if i understand the damage, the brace is the only broken paice right?, if the damage is on a pane an you just want to fix it, you can drill the end of crack co it dosnt spread then put another peice of glass ontop of it and silly**** that in place, it may sound stupid and you will get alot of raised eyebrows and ppl hanging up on you but you should try glass guyes, ppl that fix car windsheilds, moble guys are the best, they can fix any crack, my buddy had one the started from a chip, he was rearranging rocks and one slipprd, i called my glass guy he came he saw and concured. there is a specal epoxy that glass guys use to repair the surface, it will be sound but VERY visable.

good luck and have fun.

this diagram show's exactly how the cracks in the bottom are and there just in the bottom like i said and directly under the braces

ok heres my take on it, dont drill it dont goop it, repace the affected piece.

Its not a big area, what i think might be best is to flip the tank on its side, remove the silicone fron the affected area with a razor blade, with a carbide tipped glass cutter (you can get at a di it store(in canada a homdepot/canadian tire)) cut out the braces one foot back fron the corners, once its scored with the glass cutter, i like using a blow-torch to compleat the cut, it thremaly shocks the score line to cut through, then from the bottom side, cut the affected area with the cutter at a diagnal, making sure not to remove anymore then you have to but enough to remove the crack since the new peice of glass will cover the hole. use the blowtoarch to compleat the cut here too.

now all the peices should be loose, make sure to lay down towals on the existing glass, or have someone on the other side holding it back, Get a small hammer and bash the cracked pieces out, they should not crack past the cuts.

Once its all removed, get some aqua safe silicone and a doner peice of glass, i recommend 3/4" to 5/8" in a 12" X 12" sheet, this should fit directly inbetween the cut braces. goop the edges of the doner piece and the bottom there it will meet the exhisting glass, press it in place and try to squize out all the silicone, then once its set, siliconr the under side ond the inside back up... just use your finger to smoth it out, i like to use a spit soaked finger and saw it back and forth to lay a nice thick beed.

let the tank set for a week for the silicone to set then in your basement or outside, fill it with water slowly, once its 1/4 the way filled, bang on it with your fist, if you feel confident, continure to fill it all the way up. wait a week or two. it there isnt one bit of a leak drain set up and feel free to send me a nice thank you card :D

thanks portabuddy for the suggestion but you'r idea doesn't even make any sense to me first off i'm not going to cut out the braces the braces arn't even brok second if i cut a diagnole out and then put a square piece over it there would be a big space still under neath and what the hell would i use a blow torch for first off i don't even own or now how to use one and use one to cut my glass sounds a little of the wall to me any ways thanks for the suggestions i appreciate you'r time but i can't use this idea thanks thow.
