OK man i'm sorry now i get what you'r saying put the new square piece of glass on the inside daaaaaaaaaa i thaught you were saying put it on the out side of the tank that is why it diddn't make any sence to me man and that's why you said cut out the braces excese my other post i noticed it may of come of as a little rude but again in no way did i mean to be rude at all i appreciate you'r addvice very much so sincerly i do i was just a little confuse about it that's all man but how am i supposed to cut the braces any ways there inside the tank so how could i cut them inside of the tank with out bracking them or the bottom of the tank thas is still a little confusing to me also but again thanks for you'r time and you'r suggestion

Thats cool i could see how it looks like a stupid idea, but if i where any closer i would just do it for you, dont worry about it. well i thought that the bottom picture would have shown that. and yes put it on the inside, like i said you will need a carbide tipped glass cutter. and to breake the braces a blowtoarch would work well and let me tell you why, when you score the glass the cut dosnt go all the way through, you only break the surface tention. using heat will cause a thermal shock, going from room tenperature to 500 degrees compleats the cut through the glass, i have used this method about 10-15 times and it works better then snapping it with plyers. i know that you said that you dont own one but its usefull.,

I dont know if this is the best method since the best method would be to replace the whole cracked sheet(but that would cost about $200). but what you need to do is see where the cracks are and remove the part that is cracked so it dosnt spread. and the best way to do this is to use the glass cutter and cut out a diagnal piese of the existing glassdiagnal because then there arn any points to spread and create new cracks... then from the inside mesure where to cut the brace and with a straight edge press down with the cutter hard and score the glass, but be carefull not to damage the bottom sheet(well more). then from the outside(the bottom ot the bottom) you can use a small hammer and a screwdriver to knock out the broken peices, and like i said try not to cause more damage with falling pieces. once its all cutaway, get a generiouse piece of new glass atlease 1/2 thick but 3/4 would be better, and apply a generous amount of sillicone to the bottom so it sticks to the existing piece. use the stuff that oozes out to do the corners.

i realy dont know any other way of explaining it so good luck. i realy only have experance repairing tanks under 100gallon and made from acryllic.

Just be happy the bottom isnt made of tempered glass...

thanks again man for the input now like i said that i actuall understand what you meant this seem's to me like a great idea there's just a couple concern i have about it first is cutting the glass pieces the bottom and the braces while there still atached to my tank and second is that every one says that silicone doesn't bond to silicone in the regard that the new stuff won't bond to the all stuff so after i cut the braces if i could even possibly get that done with out braking my hole tank do i re do all of the silicoe on the hole bottom of the tank or what any way's man thanks for you'r time i think i found some one to help me some one i work with know's a guy that own's a glass shop so we'll see but thanks for all the help if i can get this to work sounds like a great idea.

Sincerely

A glass guy, thats perfect!, you hit the mother load, and yes if you re-read my first or second post i mentioned that you will need to cut out all the old silicone and re do it, on a tank your size it should only cost $20, but get the aquarum stuff, you dont need to be trying to figure out why all your fish are dyeing. see what this guy says and and please let me know. thanks and once again good luck.

hey portabuddy i will definetly keep you posted and thanks for you'r time once again.
