Craigslist arowana... what do you think?

In my mind this would be in the same ball park as buying fish from walmart or any other store where fish are mistreated. Just gives them financial backing to do more wrong.

It doesn't have a tail and has been poorly taken care of due to the overstocked tank and the size of the other fish. I wouldn't take it unless you're okay with having a fish that will never look its best the remainder of its life even if you have it in a big tank on its own to minimize stress so it can heal faster.
 
i would stop dealing with the guy! something alreasy seem "fishy" to me when it takes that much "talking" for him to give you the fish.
 
wow, that sucks, maybe one of his buddies has seen arowanas selling for $100 at an LFS somewhere? of course, the only arowanas i've seen for over $100 in an LFS in so cal have been black aros and they didn't look like they swam through a war zone. not that i've spent a lot of time looking, most of my fish i got from other MFKers.
