I'm in the market for a new tank in the range of 90 gallons (if you've got the hookup, as it were, i'd like to hear...), and I've been checking out craigslist. All I know is the Raleigh one, but it is full of people trying to sell 30 gallon tanks for $200 and crazy things like that. I mean, I've read $1 per gallon on used tanks here and $2 is totally reasonable for me, but this sort of stuff is ridiculous.

Do you guys see that locally? or is that my area? We are lacking in quality LFS. Anyway, I just want a 90 gallon tank for less than I'd get it new.

All it takes is time to find a good deal. Sadly the people that go through tanks quickly are usually the ones that think theyre worth every penny they put into them

Its the same around here. Used tanks are pretty much just as much as a new one!

I did just sell a 55gallon with top, lights, filter, and heater for $85 today.

nice deal on the 55, I bought my 30 gal used for 120 but it did come wiht the Eclipse 3 system which is 100$ itself =/

on my craigslist there are a bunch of ppl who sell 'full set up' 10 gallon tanks for $200 and some even more crazy than that. but other ppl you got to wonder about cuz they post 100 gallon tank for the same price. Either they have no idea what they are talking about or they have a crappy tank that they want away with or they have a great tank that they need to sell really quickly.

Actually, I am getting a 150 gallon from craigslist for $250 today... Though I have yet to figure out if its just the tank and stand or if it comes with extras... :grinno:

...if it doesnt then i guess im going to pay a whole lot for the missing parts...

Isn't the general rule that you sell used tanks for a buck a gallon? I thought that I heard that somewhere before.

My Craigslist is exactly the same. I rarely see people who are being even remotely reasonable with prices. I saw a 20 gal. the other day (mind you, it was JUST the tank and stand) for $200. People are insane.

I like looking through the free stuff, just for ****s and giggles.

People, just throw the stuff away. Nobody wants your old curlers, old bowling trophies, or TVs that don't work.

I got one of my 55's with stand, filter cover, etc. for 125, delivered to my house.
