craigslist deal worth it?

I called the guy and he told me he'll hold it for me until next week.

The accessories are a bonus- much cheaper than what I'd pay elsewhere. I have a 2217 to put on it, and if need be, I could eventually put a sump on it. I have several tanks I could use as a sump if I wanted, too, so the only cost I'd have there is media & a pump. So, this thing will be ready to go when I pick it up.

The only down side is that it comes with two oscars. . . Anyone want an oscar?

i think you need to hurry up and get the tank. there is no guarantee that he will hold it. if he gets another call tomorrow and the person has cash and is ready to pick it up tomorrow night, you lose out. he does not know if you will actually buy the tank. it's a first-come-first-serve type of deal. i do wish you the best.

Unless you were looking for oscars,Id skip it or tell him to give away the fish first.

$300 for a 125 is a really good price for our area. Some want around $350 for a 75 gallon. I currently have a 135 gallon with an asking price of $350 on aquabid right now.

Just take the Oscars to your lfs on the way back if you don't want them. I'm sure you'll get something for credit you can use towards something you want.

I got my 125 tank, stand, top, lights, and a bunch of filters and accessories for $340 (listed at $400) which is high for here but best in my area where 55-75g are listed at 350 so I went for it.

:iagree: But just to be safe tell him yr coming after it then ck it out real close before u buy.....where I live a 90 gal w/lighting would cost more.

Buy it if you don't want the oscers take them to a lfs and get a store cridit I payed 200 for just the tank it was a 225 tho

I know there are always better deals around, but it's rare to see one any better than this in my area. For a tank that large, it's about the best I've seen so far, and I look pretty much daily.

A couple days ago I missed a free 90 gallon. man, I'm kicking myself for that one!

I doubt I'll be able to get anything for the oscars. They're full grown, and most places don't want anything to do with full grown oscars.

And yeah, I want to go get it ASAP, but that would completely drain my bank account, and I'm waiting on a refund check to come in from my university. The best I could do is ask if he'd hold it. He said no problem; he completely understands, and if I'm willing to pay, he'll just tell anyone if it's still there after next week, they can have it. I'll just have to trust him on that one.

If not, I'll eventually find another deal.

It all depends on what your market is like locally. In the Twin Cities area of Minnesota a setup like you described would be selling for $600+ and at $600 it would get sold pretty quickly.

A 125 gallon TANK ONLY goes for $250+ in my area
