My guess is that the wide base is actually the top. The pillars support the top. I'm guessing it was to be a showpiece dining table at the restaurant.

That was my guess too Cory, being it's so wide and long it would have to have something to support the top.. Still kinda odd looking tank. Looks like a home made diy tank, not worth $500 to me.

I've seen this tank. It's a bar top, complete with an enclosure for a submerged TV set.
