Hey guys,

My buddy has a Beardie. He just called me, and asked what was wrong with his beardie. From what he told me, the beardie has the beginnings of MBD. I told him, and told him he HAS to get a UVA/UVB bulb. He doesn't have the money to pick it up until Friday (When he gets paid).

The issue is, I don't want the MBD to get worse. My Beardie was a rescue, already stunted. She is around 15 to 16 inches, tip to tip, and as big as she is going to get. His beardie is a male, and a little bit smaller.

How can I put his into my tank, to absorb the UVA/UVB, until he gets the new tank setup? My tank is DEFINITELY big enough to accomodate two beardies, however, I am very worried about them fighting. (And rightly so, I am well aware that this should NOT be done). I am stuck, since I don't want his beardie getting worse.

The other option is putting my girl in his tank, while I have his dude. The problem with this is his tank is a 20L. 20 gallons is extremely small, especially compared to what she is used too. I don't want to have to do this, as I know she will not like it.

Any suggestions?

prob not worth the risk if he is getting his bulb on friday.

but if you absolutely have to, introduce them in a neutral area. and see how they react. make sure you have two of everything. two basking spots two food dishes and hope for the best. also try and rearange your current enclosure. that should help with the aggression.

i suggest you get a 50 gal rubbermaid tub from homedepot as a temperary tank for ur female i kno its not anywhere as nice as her current tank but its more room for her than a 20 and it doesnt cost too much money(15$ im thinkin) because with that you can house them together to see if they get along and if they dont put her in the tub;)

idk ill keep thinkin

I hope he is getting a bulb on friday. Regardless, I am extremely worried about the dude's MBD...I want to stop it immediately, so it doesn't get worse.

Why would they fight if its a male /female?
I just hope they dont mate, that could very bad for the female

Unhealthy males are rejected by females, being that this animal is an mbd candidate, I doubt he will be able to muster the energy taken to mount the female. The female also has to be ovulating in order for her to be receptive to the male. Just put a piece of egg crate to separate the two dragons in the enclosure if you want some piece of mind.

Ok guys,

I picked up a 35 gallon rubbermaid container today...It is the same width as a 40 breeder, but 7 inches shorter. Almost same size as the 40 breeder. She is NOT happy with me right now, but she will live.

The other little guy is in my big cage. I put him on the basking spot, and he has already lifted his head (A good sign, he wasn't before). We will see what happens.

I may throw them together in a couple days, we will see whats up.

Good idea, thanks for the advice!
