ya bichirs have bad eyesight and grab the biggest thing so they can't miss, well it increases their chances of making the kill. also the lobster would be missing like part of the tail of a leg/ claw for bichirs are ambush predators.
no hes still in the tank bc I don't have a net. He is still eating and acting pretty normal... just missing an eye. Doesn't seem to have developed any infection or anything yet. he just kinda hides in the floating plant.
idk what I am going to do with him... don't really want a one eyed fish but he isn't unhealthy as of right now.
Good luck with him. It'd be a shame to have kill it, maybe someone local with a tank would adopt him? I think IU-B is kind of far from me as I go to ND- I'm not sure how close that is to Indy though.

I put the last guy down bc he stopped acting right so I scooped him why I could. I didn't want him to die and rott in the tank.
So i bought 2 more ctenopoma (3 total).. JUST LAST NIGHT and one of the new ones is missing an eye. This sucks. Hopefully I can keep this one alive, but I just got him so he is gonna be stressed already so who knows. the ****ing pet shop girl chased him around the tank for what seemed like forever and I was worried about him anyway.
the krib is going bye bye (aka petco). if I can catch the damn thing. This sucks bc she is cool as hell and has good color... but I can be having a bunch of fish without an eye. It isn't really her fault... this fish just dont seem compatible with bush fish. When the krib is fighting over something, it attacks head on. if it was attackign another cichlid, the cichlid would face up head on. But these ctens turn sideways... so the krib attacks the jaws, the fish turns sideway... = mouth to eye.
