hey if you put a dat that lived in brackish water for most of its life and then you switch it to totally fresh water, wouldnt it get un-stable or die? or will it like get use to it?

Unfortunately not. The guy never called... Maybe I'll hear something tomorrow, but I'm doubting it.

I'm pretty disappointed.

The long story is that, yesterday, this guy called the pet store that a friend of mine and I work at. My friend told the guy that he didn't have room for the fish at the store, but that he would ask around if he could find a place. The guy said that if he couldn't find a home for it, he would just kill it... :( Well, my friend said that he convinced the guy to call back today and hold off the execution for 24 hours to see if we could find a home. I was willing to take the fish, but the call never came. I'm thinking that he might not have held off. Too bad. Who knows, maybe the call will come tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath.

WoW!! That guy is stupid!!

Eek!

Lets all hope for the best....

An lfs here in Dallas had an IT in a brackish tank for 2 years and it was still 2". About 8 months ago they put it in a 500 gallon display tank and now it's about 7". I have no idea how or why but it's a true story.

Think about it.... IT is FW, so if you put in brackish, it won't grow properly... Stunted....
Also, baby indo can grow quick up to 6-7 inch. Can take up to circa 12 months or some take longer say 15 months or more.

After this size , roughly 1 inch per year.

Guy must have raised his fish for a long time, if he could not find a suitable home he would rather put the fish down then put him in a 55 where he would suffer.

If you have a fish for years you get attached to them, just keeping a fish for 4 months then trading it in, you do not get that attached.
