So, where'd you catch these guys? I want to get a few.. then start a kiddie pool pond :-)
I caught them local. They are in all the rivers here. What is weird is that in smaller rivers, they stay small (about 8-10 inches). In the larger rivers, they reach their full size. Oh, by the way, 'here' is Florida. They are temperature sensitive so you will need a heated indoor pond during the winter.

i love em.........they like algae wafers too....buy it in bulk :)

They have all the algae that they can eat in my swimming pool (a.k.a. my goldfish/koi pond). The sun isn't strong enough right now to keep up with their needs so I am giving them squash, zuchini, spinach, etc.

Nick at N-E Cichlids might be selling them in the near future if you want some.

btw, I don't recall if I mentioned it in this thread but last time I was out on the river, I caught fifteen of them. That is why my swimming pool can't produce enough algae for them.

I thought Chompers mentioned it in post 21.

I figured you were catching them somewhere in the South... Hell, if they're that plentiful, I'd be tempted to eat one. A fish food in their native range after all..

Oddball has me beat so bad I look like a little girl. He noodled some twice the size of these. Before he had a giant catfish fry (party), he gutted them and mixed the milt and eggs. He then hatched out the tens of thousands of fry (babies) and sold them to catfish farms and lake stockers.
