Are crawfish pretty good prey items for dovii.I was thinking about feeding my dovii crawdads every once in a while, but im worried about the damage a crawdad could do.Should i be worried,or would the attack from the dovii be defensless.:)

Depends how big the fish and the prey you are wanting to feed are, in my opinion. I only feed crawdads I know the fish can "take" , and if they are really large crawdads remove the pinchers. Besides when it molts its prolly a goner- unless it has some good cover.

i love feeding my fish craw dads they love it to its fun for them to chase tastes great and is good for them and if you have a creak by your house there free at least here

don't be worried about injury they swallow them tail first usually but they can go down head first so its best to break off the point on there head to do so feal by there eyes there will be 3 spikes one in the middle and one on each side the side ones fold down so can be hard to take of but the middle on is the most important to get just lift up on it and it will break off and don't worrie about the claws unless with large crayfish but for the most part they don't pose a proublem big cichlids are pretty smart and can be pretty determind to get there food

P.S all my big cichlids like craw dads you really should try some

There is a reason they make fishing lures that look like crayfish. Fish love em and have no problem eating them. If they were dangerous to eat there would be wild fish floating around dead everywhere but of course there isnt so dont worry about it, I would be far more worried about introucing parasites or disease into my tank. That is the only real threat.

Do dovii eat them in the wild? The cray fish lures are used to catch game fish. Game fish can eat hard shelled invertebrates, soft rayed fish, and hard rayed fish without any problems. Some fish can have problems with hard shells and hard rays.

Remains (head) of a 3-4cm Crawdad/Yabby. Got pretty much destroyed instantly by my 8cm Blue Acara. I'm sure they're fine for Dovii's, it lasted about 15min in my tank.

I was planning to keep the poor little guy :(
