crawfish and pbass?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had 2 crayfishes in my tank with my cichla pair and they didn't eat it. They did great eating all the poo left from the pair. My male was 14 -15" and my female was 11-12".

I think it just depends on your cichla though. I fed mine strictly frozen foods like shrimp and fishes. Nothing live except for guppies once in a blue moon for the excitement of my friends and family.

ok i wanted to get some crayfish for the same reason, but by pbass are much smaller they are about 4" right now and i am sure that they cannot eat the crayfish for at least sometime. so today when i went to get a cray or 2 the lady at my lfs scared me from getting them. she told me that she doesnt kno much about pbass but that they are very agressive and that they can very possible kill my fish by munching on there tails.

i dont care if my fish ever eat the crayfish, but can i put them in my tank without them possible hurting my 4 pbass?

Mine wont eat crawfish either. My fish range from 10 inches to 14 inches or so.

i have a blue lobster that just molted yesterday. when they molt they become extremely inactive a few days prior and for a few days after. afterwards, the shell is soft and has to harden. they are literally imobile for at least a day after molting. a p-bass will crack the shell of a molting crawdad, like a peanut. he'd actually bust up a crawdad that was not molting.

I also think is up to how the Pbass is like. Reasonly I add 2 Crawfish both around body size at 16 cm. Pbass killed the darker color one the lighter color still alive atm. Not sure later on lol.

I had an 8" red claw for a couple of years and all my fish were fine with it even my gator gar, i got a temensis pair and didnt think anything of it. Fine for a week or so then it suddenly went and all i found was a leg on the sand :(
