thinking about getting a small blue crawfish in the 40gal, just because they look cool. anyone had one or knows about them to let me know if this is gonna be a problem or if its all good
Tank wise you are fine. A 40 gallon for one crawfish (forgive me i am from Louisiana so crayfish just sounds crazy to me, our menus at restaurants always say crawfish haha) the big question is what other tankmstes were you considering or would the 40 gal be just for one crawfish? Filtration? Etc? (I don't know about crawffish just by our restaurants I actually have a few that are in my native tank. Rescued them from a restaurant actually Haha
Filtration wise I have one HOT filter rated for 50gal, and currently I am building a sump, for tank mates I was originally going to get some oscars or bichirs and have sort of a "mini monster" tank but since the tank is still cycling my ideas change often
i dont keep these guys anymore they started attacking my fish, he ate one actually and the one survivor when he got big enough ate him >=D i think i had him with a bichir? or something that looked liked one i dont remember it was when my dad was into the hobby tho.
I think you could keep them with large silver dollars or 2 tinfoils. Tinfoils get large and are very fast. Basically they will eat small fish and large fish will eat them. SD's are vegatarians. Try to get large silver dollars though. I would not do any more than 2 tinfoils in a 40 even that may be pushing it.
