crayfish as carnivorous scrap eaters?

you should be ok. just make sure you have plenty of hiding spots thats the key.. i have two crays with my monsters and theyve been fine. just remember they will rip apart anything they can get there claws on but they leave the bones behind, a great scavenger yes but messy...

bases upon all your advice i plan to go the catfish route. how big do shovelnose get? they look very interesting.

im also looking at pictus catfish like you said. im liking these ideas. also, when i get my carnivorous cats, i am going to put my plecos into my neighbors pond. they will be 200% happy in there, i see loads of algae swaying in the "wind".
