I am thinking of breeding crayfish to feed to my fish.(salt/freshwater) and i am wondering what all will i need. I have a 30 gallon so far. And i have a air filter that can be used in the fry tank. And i am thinkin of breeding electric blue. So anythin will help me. I wld like to knw anythin such as how to setup the tank, what size i will need, food for them. Prtty much anythin that will help me get going.

Setup so far
Tank size: 30 gallon
filter:canister
substrate: gravel

i would go with marmokrebs, they are less agressive, self cloning and quick to reproduce

I am planning on moving the female to a different tank after she is fertile. So if u can help explain this too i wld be greatful

Ok so with the marble crays how many femals cld go in a tank?

kk i read up on the marble crays wld it be better for 2 females in a 30gallon or 1. I will be feeding the fry to 2 tiger oscars(will take alot of the babies to feed them) and eventually a mantis shrimp(peacock). So wht is the best way to do this. I also read how to remove the fry if un wanted u wash the egg case off the mother.

thnx ur the best. Everyone else wont reply due to there scarce knowledge unlike urs

i think imma do marble so any ever breed any crays or got some gr8t adivce?

marbles sort of do it by themselves with a good food source. 30g is a great size. Add alot of wood/rocks for the young to hide in. I don't have a huge amount of experience with full sized crays, I have more dwarf species. Hopefully someone else can chime in to help you out more.

Imma put in 1-1 1/4 inch diameter pvc pipe for the babies. And also imma use under gravel filter. Substrate will be sand and lava rock. baby crays eat the paint off aquarium rocks......
