Dumb question. I was thinking of putting a Crayfish or two in my Native Tank if I come across one, but some sites that I read about keeping Crayfish with fish said that it would be fine as long as they are giving places to hide, but yet some people on here have said that they will not do OK with fish. What I have in the tank currently are two Green Sunfish, a Pumpkinseed Sunfish, and a Red Wolf (I know its not a Native, but he was too aggressive in my 60, so I put him with fish more his size). Would any of my fish eat the Crayfish? Would the Crayfish eat my fish?
Thanks for the help in advance.:)

the cray would try to eat a fish if its injured or sick so it cant move away.
as far as if the fish would eat the cray i dont know. they may sunfish seem to eat pretty much anything

crayfish have pretty hard shells i tried to feed one to my 18" rtc but i ended up keeping it as pet because it never got through its shell......but eventually my rtc and oscar double teamed it and harassed it to death

lol, now I'm nervous. Put it in the tank and it gets eaten or put it in the tank and it eats someone else.
lol take your pick big cray may be safe from the fish, but may be more likely to eat sick fish.

small cray is less likely to eat fish but more likely to get eaten. catch 22

anyway i would go big as long as your fish dont fight you will probably be ok

you can do it but remember crayfish tend to be more active at night. if one of your fish is sleeping and doesn't notice the crayfish it may be to late. in my opinion i wouldn't do it. but being a native tank you have a small eco-system in a glass box so they might do better then in a tropical tank.

with a native tank i would go ahead and try. but i would be worried about the wolf fish, being a little less active then the other fish. he's more seceptible to the crayfish's claws.

i put a cray in with my wifes 55 gal goldfish tank (assorted kinds of gf), and yesterday morning, one of the pearl goldfish was missing - i found it under a log, or what was left of it (no scales, eyes, just fish meat on bone).

You can try giving the crayfish some sort of structure to live in so that in mostly keeps to that area. Plus it's probably not going to kill your fish overnight, you'll notice if they get scratched and you can always remove it.

If you want you could even freeze it, chop it up, and feed it to them.
