crayfish turning blue

i got my crayfish out of a creek and it is about six inches counting the claws now and it turns brighter blue every time it molts.It was brown when i found it and about one and a half inches long. is this normal?ill try to post a pic sometime this week.

cool, that happened to me once, remember the spot you caught them cause now i cant find them back. in the wild they live on plant and the caroteen gives them the green and blue, in captivity they live on fish and fish food, so the blue comes out. Ive had hundreds of c fish and only have had one batch turn blue. congrats
 
isn't it very similar to albanism in vertabrates. As their blood is copper based isn't that a large part of what you are seeing hemolymph etc.

dang man, im a redneck from minnesota, not sure what that means, but will take your word for it, can you put it in simpler terms
 
i caught two smaller crayfish at nearly the same spot and they are turning blue also
 
Thats pretty cool, hang on to them. I don't have any blue ones, just red and I feed them to puffers.
 
i saw me a blue crawdad at a golf course once
 
and you didnt grab and take it home...whats wrong with you...only kidding but i would have grabbed it cause i have never seen a blue one in pereson.
