I changed the gravel in my 55 to black from blue (I know blue gravel is cheesy to many)

Anyway, I put the old gravel in a 5 gallon bucket.

I got lazy and left the gravel in the bucket for a couple weeks before I decided to clean and move the old gravel to somewhere other than our bedroom.

So.....I went outside and used the water hose to rinse the crap off of the gravel.

This is where things got crazy :nilly:

I notice something moving on the top of the gravel.....it's one of my giant danios that I figured was dead because I hadn't seen him in a couple of weeks!

I don't know how he survived that long...there was virtually no water for him, just what was stuck between the gravel.

Needless to say, he is one tuff fish :headbang2

wow...

Yeah, I was really surprised to find him....alive!
I still can't figure it out....the bucket also had a net, tank decor, and plastic bags from the new rocks on top of the old rock in the bottom of the bucket. I don't see how he 1. didn't get crushed by the rocks, 2. survived with virtually no water, 3. he hadn't eaten in 2 weeks ( I figure this puts an extra strain on the fish).

For real?!!! I use them for every fish cycle but that is just incredible. I had one jump out of the net twice before I got him in the tank and I was worried LOL.
