That's not how you go about finding a dog. I hate people...

If they are looking to get the dog anyways, why would a trade be bad? At least they won't be supporting a puppy mill by buying it in a store..

I mean, I get that they may not be suitable for a dog or something, but it's really not all too rare that people don't trade things for pets.

i wonder if theres someone on craigslist with a puppy saying i just got this puppy but i really want a fishtank

I'm a little biased. It's people like that who keep people like me in a job. Bet $100 the dog ends up in a shelter/pound or rescue program. I know it happens every day, doesn't mean I have to agree with it, ya know?

No, you aren't biased.. you're making crude assumptions about someone you know nothing about other than they wanted to trade fish for a dog. Dogs IMO are easier to take care of. Some people just don't have the time for fish tank maintenance.

I bet you wouldn't think the same thing if they were selling that tank for a smaller tank with fish would you?

I traded a tattoo for my dog.. I still have my dog 3 years later..

Yes, it's an odd request, but it's not always a bad thing.. too many rescue people assume, and that's why I got out of working in a shelter. Some people really are honest, and can't take care of their pets.

That is one mighty big broad brush you are using to paint your picture.

Who is to say that a dog breeder is not reading that add and says sure thing. Let's meet them and see if it's a match.

I know that I would be interested if they were near me, except for one thing. The dog that we breed is a little different than a lab.

I personally see no issue with this approach. What do you think they will do with the money from the sale of the tank if they sold it rather than traded.

I wonder what little one in that family is so very excited at the concept of getting their very own puppy.

i agree with you...whats the difference from a trade to a sell?..how do you go about getting a specific breed of dog..and dont want to pay big bucks for it when you have something worth value to trade for it?
If someone with a dog sees this add and checks the people out, approves them for there dog ..than everyone will be happy..kinda an odd trade but meh

dog breeders may like fish tanks too. sounds like an innocent trade to me. Nothing wrong with that is there???

That's what I am saying. We breed Chinese Crested Hairless and I also run 15 fish tanks and would sure be up for a trade on a pup for a sw set up if the people were right for the dog.
