Nice looking lungfish, looks to be about the size of my big fellow, at least from what i can guess from the ramshorn snack on the gravel. How well has he managed when he gets himself outa the tank? Looks pretty good from the pics, mine hasn't managed to get out yet buti think he's just biding his time until i'm not looking.

He has survived for hours laying on the floor until someone found him. He is about 25-26 inches long. I have to keep a brick on the hoods to keep him in. He messed up he snout crashing into the side of an aquarium (so the previous owners told me). Does anyone know if it is normal for them to suck gravel into their mouths and out of the gill slits (if that is what they are called on lungfish)?
I have never noticed mine doing it but my girlfriend has said that my large one does this usually in the evening and night. I'll try to keep an eye out and see if he does it. I would imagine that its a method of feedin on smaller prey items. but thats just my thoughts on it. I'll have to see if i put pellets in there and see how he does if he even notices them

Very nice... i hear african lf are more aggressive than the australian ones.

He is about 13 years old. The previous owners tried a few larger fish in with him. Unfortunately the other fish left with less parts than when the went in.
