Creaking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't see anything wrong with the stand. Is it possible it is just settling as it is new? I have gone under the house and nothing looks any different than it always has.

I'll be honest with you, I've never heard of a "settling in" period for an aquarium stand. With the weight involved it really needs to be right from the get go. Sitting there watching tele whilst it's creaking away must be very unnerving.

If everything looks ok then all you can do is give it a bit of time, maybe contact the manufacturers with your concerns. The alarm bells may ring for them and they may replace it, who knows.

I wish you luck, and keep us posted.

I had a similar problem years ago, a sudden groaning creaking sound every once in a while. It really started to concern me that I would come home to a flood so I replaced it just for peace of mind.
Saying that, your stand looks new and nice and solid. As suggested I would contact whoever you purchased it from and maybe get either an engineer or carpenter out to check the floor.
Believe me, it will constantly be a worry for you until you get an answer.

I am going to add support on one end of the tank, as the other end has a beam and column. I am planning to use a pier cinder block with a strong tie and 4 by 6 and then a jack support on top of the 4 by 6 with another short 4 by 6 on top of the jack to go across the two joists the tank is above. With this extra support I think it will be solid and I can eliminate the floor being an issue. Thoughts?
