Creating natural, functional cichlid display tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd like to keep Geo's and other similar fish. I'd also like to have Pike, perhaps Hero's, maybe Angels, and other supporting characters. Time will tell as the tank comes together

Some great species there.
Geos and angels work very well together.
They don't compete for the same territorial space and the best thing is they look amazing.
Good luck whatever you decide on.

One thing I was unclear about was when you spoke about the use of slate and gluing branches to it. Would you mind elaborating?

Some times it's nice to create the look of old dead roots or branches that used to grow upwards towards the water surface from the substrate.
Here is a quick sketch to help show what I mean.

Awesome! Thank you. I was totally overthinking it. I remember when driftwood was often sold like that. I like the idea of doing it yourself because you can achieve the look you are going for without searching forever for that "perfect" piece.

Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 have you used oak leaves? Found some and am tempted to try them for my shrimp :)

Happy to see you back on the scene and happy to make you laugh.
I half expected to see you re appear to show a whole new tank setup and show us how you did it.
