CREATING THE ULTIMATE FILTRATION AND EVOLVING WITH YOUR FISH!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Filter and heater could be as same as an UV, optional item, or requirement item, depend on how you keep your tank, and what you keep in your tank. Back home,we kept fish with daily water change, and without a single filter. I've unplugged my heater on some tanks since February, and have some tank that haven't had a heater for year

Water could also be considered optional depending on what you want to keep......

I agree that a uv isn't necessary, but for certain fish I would use one (if ever I keep another group of clown loaches I'll be running one).

I used a UV for YEARS, probably about 10 years or so and got sick of buying a new bulb every 6 months so finally sold it one day and have not regretted that decision one single day since. It has it's uses, but not for the vast majority of fish keepers if you maintain your tanks like any responsible fish keeper should :)

I highly doubt this little unit does much but Who knows keep us updated !!!This thread was started for people who buy fish as fry and end up with 24 inch plus fish and 500 pluss gallon fish but the more i think about it what does it matter you have guppies or paima!!! it is all the same a fish bowl or a 10000 gallon tank or pond!!!!:headbang2

I want to know if it works myself too, sure its only rated for a 800L tank max but the concept if there. if it works we can take that concept and apply it on a larger scale to work for bigger tanks.

They're not flawed, they're just not made intended for every application, just like sumps vs bead filters. The main thing with carbon is that it needs slow flow rates to break down chlorine. If the water passes thru too fast, it won't be effective. And it needs to be monitored and replaced when exhausted.
True

Ozone is very bad for health also

water will NOT be an option in FISH keeping...

Ozone is very bad for health also, I have a giant ozone generation unit from hydroponic use, I would not use it now with my baby in the house.

sure its bad for humans if not set right, it have some advantages in our application.

my understanding on ozone will work in freshwater but...

- It needs a special sump or unit to work in. Dropping ozone right into the fish tank as done with sw is dangerous to fish that swim over. Using it in sump will kill all the bacteria.

Hence why I think UVs are a better option easier to use for the average person and more safe not that setting up ozone is hard but its a bit more complicated the a UV. a UV used correctly has the same advantages also.

Small update on the filter initial set up the tank has no lids so I think I am getting dust the tank is in the garage, as of now here is what it looked like I had originally said I didnt think I would need surface skimming and that only time would tell. So on to the pictures (I know ugly heaters in tank lol)

So this is what it looke like after it had been running for a while so I added a little more surface agitation with a small circulation pump and a air pump. More pictures, this was taken about 30minutes later I still believe I will not need surface skimming but again only time will tell once I add more bio load these little guys are just to help establish this filter I am very happy with the wlim glass filter
