Creek Chub tank mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
125 gallontank with DIY 25 gallon sump with scrubbies and 600 gph pump. 2 40watt 48 inch daylight fluorescent bulbs. Everything in the tank I collected except gravel and the 1 large plastic plant.

Water temp is room temp. And since is in a room attached to back of my garage temp fluctuates between 55 and 80 degrees fahrenheit throughout the year. I don't use a tank heater. The room is heatd but only kept at 55 to y turn AC but only turn it on when tanks get to warm.

The big aggressive Creek Chubs or fallfish will eat and kill anything much smaller than themselves thats not as aggressive, so I would make sure its a big madtom (Slender ,margined or a Stonecat etc) or one of the big hardy shiners, I believe most darters and many minnows would get eaten (some of the ones big enough not to get eaten are endangered like the Niangua darter).

Warmouth, are you talking about creek chubs?

Or fallfish?

Both.....they are both big aggressive chubs. Im not saying they are as big and tough as a Bowfin or Gar, but I am saying I have seen Creek Chubs in the creeks around here in the Ozarks eating minnows and competing with Bluegill and Longear Sunfish for little grasshoppers me and my family threw in the creek.
