i got this wierd looking worm thing that crawled out of my live rock. its less than an inch long and its orange and black with little whisker like things along its whole body... anyone know what it is?

also got this orangish fuzzy blob on my live rock. its about a half inch in diameter and looks kinda like a fungus infection youd see on a fish. anyone know what this thing is?

The first critter is a bristle worm....and no, they are NOT bad....they are a very beficial part of the cleanup crew in a reef aquarium. The only time they become undesirable are when they get UBER large...like 4 or more inches long...

The second item is just a sponge...a filter feeder, nothing to worry about...

o well mine is 4 inches long. and theres a few that are shorter. they all just crawled out and i got kinda freaked out... what exactly do they do? can they hurt any types of corals or inverts? how do i go about getting rid of them when they get too big? they're always under the sand so i almost never see them.

bristle worms are bad. bristle worms attack corals and sometimes other animals too.
small bristle worms may look really harmless, larger specimens that have grown to sizes of 24 inches or more in length
