Picked up 6 2"ers at an auction today for $8:headbang2
never kept pikes before and was just poking around looking for info, anyone keeping them?

Got loads of cool new fish today and got to work 13 hour shift tommorow wont even have a chance to look at them till monday:cry:

dorsocellatus? You sure thats what they are? For those prices, I'd be skeptical, they aren't really common pikes....if they are thats an awesome pick up!!! Definately hold onto them!!

Lol I just looked at the spelling I put in boy was I tired when I typed last night. There were a few adults at the auction too,the body was darker and the dorsal was redder than the fish in the link.My wife does my photography Ill see If she,ll take some pics tommorow after work.

So heres a pic of one of the fish I got
Fish001.jpg

Like I said the adults at the auction had a dark body and red fins bright enough to be visible in a bag from 10' away nice looking fish its what made me grab these.written on the bag it said adult size 6"-8"

No opinions?!
Got a lead on who the breeder is sent him an email Ill see what i can find out

I'm thinking that they are not dorsocellata but rather proteus. Certainly a Saxitilis group pike. Females have a brilliant red dorsal with oceli in them.

You may not know for sure until they mature but I'm pretty confident that it is not dorsocellata.

After looking a few pics over I think you have Cr. lucius. The unocellated humeral spot is a huge clue to this species.

Thanks for the replies, still havent seen a pic that made me say Thats it! but ill keep looking.theyre geedily eating the nls and bbs Im feeding them so Im feeling pretty good about how they acclimated to my water.Fishrooms nearly full of juvenile fish right now,Ill be watching everyone grow all winter!:D
