Awfully similar, no?

More lucius. The humeral spot is pretty telling.

Well I just got an answer back.Evidently the parents were identified as Crenicichla dorsocellatus in 2005 by Dr. Paul Loiselle When the top breeder at njas won reserve of show with them.So a pretty good pedigree on the fish.
Thanks Scatocephalus that is the closest Ive seen to what these youngsters look like.Like I said the older fish at the auction were stunning!

Now I AM STOKED!!!:headbang2
to see how these look when they grow up:popcorn:

You seen what the adults looked like? I have a female C. proteus. I have pictures from about 3" to about 8". You can look in my gallery at the pics to compare. All of them are the same pike exept for a few... and that is young male. C. proteus.

You will be pretty haed pressed to find out what it is until it is a good 4-6". Thats when the colors will start popping.

Yea lol Im gonna learn patience, just got these and haps and peacocks all look pretty nondescript for a looooooong time

Im inclined to agree, although I am hesitant to second guess the Id after reading the story behind it.Like softurtle said, only time will tell.
