Hey guys bought this lil fella a few days ago. Was sold as compressiceps. It's hard to tell in the pics because his color has been changing, but it does have a long horizontal line down its middle, and at times has vertical lines run from the top of the horizontal line to it's dorsal fin. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, sorry for the crappy iPhone pics, he's fast!!IMG_1207.jpgIMG_1211.jpgIMG_1212.jpgIMG_1213.jpgIMG_1214.jpgIMG_1215.jpgIMG_1216.jpgIMG_1217.jpgIMG_1218.jpg

Doesn't look like a compressiceps. Looks more like a regani or a nophthalmus.

I didn't think compressiceps either, not really showing any yellowish-green tint. Definitely not regani... I'm almost leaning towards cincta with they body type and spot on his tail. The truest picture to his actual coloring is in the first pic. He looks darker thank he really is in all the other ones.

Definetly not a compressiceps looks like a sveni one of the most common Colombian pikes from the saxatilis species. They're cool but they're no dwarf lol they'll hit 10+ inches

It's def not a dwarf pike look at its tail color and patterning its def a saxatilis sp. that caudal fin can tell you a lot. Notice that in the first pic the lower half of the caudal is a tinge of orange... Another dead giveaway

Definetly NOT a cincta lol. Body type is completely off for a lugubris pike and tail doesn't have the yellow spangling. I think you confused the yellow spangling on it for its single gold outlined occeli spot. Definetly a saxatilis pike species

sveni could be possible but the tail spot doesn't look the same in comparison.

Thanks for the help crenicihla444... in terms of body type what is off? For an 1"1/2, he's actually got a pretty broad body, definitely not streamline like a regani. Can't tell in the pics but the very tip of his tail is edged in yellow. Thanks again, this has been driving me nuts lol.

Sveni have a single gold occelated eye spot on the tail. The fish has that.

The lower half of the caudal is orange, and sveni have that cincta DONT have that.

And also take note of the striations in the tail another indication its definetly not a cincta lol

On top of that body shape and tail shape is wayyyy off for a lugubris pike there's no question about it whether or not what group it belongs to... Hope I cleared some things up about them. I bought some "baby" cincta from wetspot last year. As soon as they came in I knew they weren't actually cincta. A few others here still firmly believed they were cincta despite my reasoning. I sent wetspot a email and they said they'll save a couple from their batch to see what they turn out tone when they grow up. Long story short I was right they turned out to be either lucius or anthurus most likely lucius a saxatilis pike due to the lack of spangling in the humeral blotch. Even in the pic wheni bought them they had a suspicious amount of striations in the caudal I knew I shouldn't but I decided to trust wetspot. They're good though they made it right and gave me a refund without me asking probably because I was right from the start haha
Edit: they came in at less than 0.75 inches and skinnier than a toothpick so they were tiny... it's not too hard to tell the difference even when that small though
