AT LEAST a 55gal for the pair, you could have some other cichlids in there with them, but not too many. Bigger tanks with a wide foot print are always best though, so always try to aim for more...;)

Generally when you are keepin a pair for breeding purposes, you want them as secluded as possible to ensure the survival of as many young as possible. They will breed in community settings though, so its not nesseccary. Dithers do help out oodles though!! ;)
