We have came across xingu I aka Orange pikes in smaller and bigger sizes. Also johannas and lenticulatas out of brazil from the negro. Not much fish come from the xingu anymore.
Some slip threw. But chances of the cobra pikes slipping threw are very slim. Japan usually buys specialty fish like that before we even know their avalible. They have their guys at the docks waiting for the fisherman to come in. If they see cobra pikes at the docks they usually get them on the spot. Their for we never even knew about them.
This is a fun hobby, but includes time and waiting to get what you want. Im here for all of you and really hope I can find some of these fish for all of you. Crenicichla, cichla, discus, pleco. These are the fish Im constantly asking for every single week.
Thanks for the pointers and tips about the crenicichla Mark and Jer. It is appreciated. I will keep you guys updated with pictures of the xingu spotface I keep back for myself. Thanks, John

Crenicichla rosemariae - Upper Xingu, headwater stream of Rio Suia-Missu.
Geophagus proximus - Rio Ucayli, Peru - Rio Trombetas, Brazil - Rio Negro, Brazil
Crenicichla tigrina - Rapids of Rio Trombetas, Para, Brazil. Type species collected in Igarape Caxipacore.
Geophagus argyrostictus 'São Felix'
Retroculus xinguensis
Retroculus lapidifer
If I think of more I'll let you know.
Do the fishermen actually know the fish they are trying to catch or do they just catch stuff and let someone else sort it out? If you give them a specific location & pictures of what you want will they go and get that fish? It just makes me wonder how many of these fish we desire are actually within reach and the fishermen simply don't know that they are highly desirable??
snookn21;4347943; said:They may know some of the fish, other fish seem to come in as bi-catch. I will see if I can locate some of these fish. I know the rio negro, rio maderia, rio purus, rio xingu, rio tapjos and a few other rivers that the fisherman collect out of. I will see what I can do with your list Scat. Hopefully I can find a few of these species.
