Crenicichla notophthalmus

Any spawning, Peter?

That puts them at about 14 months old. Last night the female was showing her dorsal spot really brightly for the first time. I cannot tell if she and the male are really "bonded." They coexist in a 55 and occasionally he chases her, but nothing too aggressive. I'd like to set up a smaller tank and start softening the water and bringing down the pH. I just don't want him to snap and kill her in a smaller tank.
Funny about dithers... mine have been in with Endler's livebearers since they were maybe 1.5" and they've never eaten any. The angels I keep with them, on the other hand...

Not yet. She seems willing but both males are clueless. The tank is in mid 70s though, so maybe in a few weeks when it warms up a little.
Really nice definitely my favorite dwarf pike. Love the dorsal fin extension on them. keep us updated on them they look awesome!
