I pick her up on Saturday, I have a few juvie geos and a rare satanoperca to move first to be safe. I will for sure be asking you for your help with an ID when I get her home though. Keep an eye out. ;)

Thanks again guys!

A nice long cozy cave will most likely be all she needs to feel secure. She'll keep other fish from her space, but otherwise you shouldn't have issues.

This was the best cell phone picture I was able to get of her today at the LFS (no pics allowed) is it good enough for an ID? This female is spangled almost the entire body length.

This was the best cave I could get. You think it will work if laid on it's side? Beer can next to it for size reference...

I won't be able to pick her up for a bit still but am still planning on getting her. The LFS is holding her for a couple weeks for me until I'm ready. Let me know what you think please.

She's a beauty, though with the glare and focus I couldn't take a stab at the ID ... (ID'ing sax-types even with a perfect pic is a pain in the arse!!). The pot looks good, will look better after you java moss it all up. *lol*

cave definitely look big enough. one suggestion i have, that has just been my experience with keeping pikes. i dont like to have caves that are that enclosed. i guess it depends on each individual fish, but ive noticed sometimes once a pike finds its cave, it gets alittle skittish and won't come out and swim around and then you dont get to see it. now i try to use driftwood that provides some cover but is still fairly open so that they can feel safer if they need to hide.

I agree with what's been said. I have two creni's, male and female of different sp. No aggression toward each other or anyone else in the tank. Very aggressive eaters but not fighters. That said, they have taught a few "lessons" to some of the more nippy cichlids. You should do fine. Go for it and post some pics!

From that picture I would guess its either a lepidota or anthurus, although I'd lean towards lepidota. They have that profusion of bright spangling, and the one I have that I believe is a female gets a bright pink belly. They also seem to be very "tall" pikes, in that they seem very tall for the length of their bodies.

Get us some better pictures and we can ID for sure. You'll love having a pike, they're great fish!

Also, my male lepidota is the king of his tank. But the female seems to be much more sedate, only being aggressive when someone else tries to push her around.

Thank you very much to everyone willing to provide feedback. You all have been very helpful. I will be buying her and will start an I'd thread when I get her home soon.
