Crenicichla saxatilis Pair

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I thought true sax's were missing the 9-12 o'clock position, not the 12-3 one .... though the search function doesn't seem to be working so I can't double check that.

they're so graceful & that is accented much more, seeing them "as a pair"
:-] I'm jealous. haven't kept pikes yet.

Hot pikes dude!!

Very nice! I think they are true saxatilis. I believe I read Vin Kutty say that true sax have the notch in the humeral blotch that yours are displaying. No matter what they are great specimens.

Looking Good!!!

They look like the true ones :) Have they spawned yet?

Thanks guys! I like this pair a lot. I will send a message to Vin Kutty on FB and see what he thinks. No they have not spawned yet but they are not in their final tank yet, I seriously doubt they will spawn with other larger more aggressive fish in the tank for now.

You could be right. I am not 100% sure. The whole sax group sucks to identify IMO.

Yeah, I normally don't even try, I just wait for Peanut

Vin says they are true saxatilis with 90% certainty! !!! I wish I could get river info, only country is known as of right now.

Yeah, usually I like to double check before I post ... stoopid search function. I remembered once species was 9-12 and the other was 12-3, I just couldn't remember which was which.

Stunning pair !!

Well cancel what I said above about them not going to spawn.. hopefully you can see her vent in this pic. They dug out a "cave" under a massive piece of wood in the tank.
