Crenicichla sp. "Belly Crawler" ????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep they are.

yeap. one of my favorite most active fish. they will come take thawed krill out of your hand.

Some of them have red in the body. Is this normal or were they mixed in by mistake? I'll take a few pic.s today. Haven't seen them with red on the forums.

the red in normal.

The red IS normal lol ^^^^^^

Thank you. Would Females more likely have the red ? Can't find many pics of these guys with red . Couple of species very similar looking. They seem to be pairing off and want to separate a pair or two.

I am not entirely certain that you have Crenicichla sp. 'belly crawler'. Its head is rather blunt looking, and the blotches are more rounded instead of elongated.

Its quite possible that you might actually have Crenicichla geayi, which is sometimes a contaminant, but not that common either. Maybe its just the way the pictures are taken, not for sure.

Fantastic looking pike! Get some more pictures please!
