crenicichla sveni death?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got no idea what that is. Is there a chance that my other fish are in danger?
I have some experience with bloat. But it doesnt seem like bloat. He was laying on the ground and not floating. Had no problems with swimming yesterday. It all hapened in one night i think.
I suppose your other fish could be in danger, but I doubt it, just monitor them very closely and you could try feeding medicated food just to be sure, but I wouldn't worry too much

wow thats a really stupid way to die... But that indeed might have been the possible cause.

Not a stupid way to die, fish get startled and dart/jump, it happens mostly with arowanas, but it can happen with other fish, I've had several cichlids jump and hurt themselves, some have died from it.

its pretty sad and stupid to die in that way.... its not like he got eaten or the attack killed him. Its just something with bad luck and a good bumb to the head by coincidence. I get that they jump, its only natural but its still a sad way to die because it wasn't necessary at all to jump and it didnt have to be his death. Its sad

it is for sure sad, but fish jump, that's just the way it is, that's why I have nets over my tank instead of lids

You have a nocturnal fish, the bichir, and if it chased the sveni in the dark, then there's no way for it to see the top of the tank.
