Crenicichla Wallacei

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow... those look awesome. But I'm sure that the one I have is not notos. The red on the dorsal is more like a trim on the edge, kind of like that on a jd. It also is greenish, with thin black lateral lines on the top of the head. I know a pic can tell you a lot better than words. I will try to get one up by tonight. Thanks again.

These are the best pics I could get. Excuse the glass, I haven't cleaned the glass in the quarantine in a few weeks. Let me know what you think. I have to say this fish has one of the best personalities I have seen. Just one day in, and it already comes up to the glass waiting for food. That's actually the reason I picked it up in the first place. When I was at my lfs he was staring at me in the front of the glass, as if telling me "take me home please". LoL.

Uh oh!!!!! You didn't get a dwarf at all!!! That looks like Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela'. They are some huge growing pikes. I would be sure to let your LFS know that you don't appreciate them being so incredibly inaccurate with their fish names. Selling a fish as a dwarf that can easily push 16".

Damn!! That kind of changes everything. Would it be ok with my poly's when it get's bigger?

yea looks like it gets bigger than 5'' haha definately not a dwarf dumb lfs

If you can point me in the direction of some good info on them it would be appreciated. And I definitely am going to have a talk with them. Maybe I can make it work though. Was $12 a good price?

seems fair

Just a bit of general information:

Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela'

Don't get me wrong, they are amazing pikes. Its just you were expecting a type of dwarf, which wallaci are, and instead you came out with one of the larger bruisers available. You shalt not be disappointed though! :)

And yesh, they go great with polys. :)
