A coworker of mine at the LFS i work at has been raising Cresteds for awhile and I finally picked one up this weekend. I have to say this is the lowest maintenace lizard I own. No heat bulb doesnt like crickets all he likes is meal replacement and baby food. Not to mention the lack of biting and scratching is a welcome change. So yeah anybody else raise these little guys and anyone have a a female they would like to sell. Im looking to start breeding as mine is almost 8 months old. I know I have a few more months but it never hurts to start looking now.

How do you feed meal supplement?
i agree, how do you????

That’s cool that he does that, but I wouldn't feed him just that. You should add live insects to the diet if you can. Keep trying to get him to eat dusted crickets. You could also try feeding him superworms, waxworms, cockroaches, grasshoppers and other safe insects. Rhacodactylus ciliatus are a really neat species of gecko, I plan on getting a pair someday. That or a pair of Tribolonotus Gracilis! Lets see some pics! :)

I offer him dusted crickets he tends to tear them limb from limb sort of like hey dad look at what I did. Actually I came back to my dorm room today to find that he had dropped his tail. I don't know why but Ive stopped the bleeding and removed him and cleaned the cage in hopes of preventing infection. In all the years I have had lizards I have never had one drop a tail. Im guessing something must have startled it or it feared for its life. Ill get some pictures up soon of the little guy.

If it is just puree, you would have to mix it up. They can get mouth rot if they don't have a balanced diet between puree and solids. (Reference for any new Crested Gecko owner, not you mtnknxt)

No worries...I only offer about 2 grams at a time of the baby food just a little snack dont want to overdo the vitamin A. Pangea has been like the bible for me taking care of this little guy. Im contemplating on how to take care of this dropped tail situation the spot has clotted but Im worried about infection.

I wouldn't worry to much about an infection as long as the tail dropped at the base at the spot they are made to drop off. If its a middle of the tail brake then you can have a problem.

If your super worried, you can disinfect the area with Betadine mixed with water till its weak tea colored.

Get the Repashy Superfoods by T-Rex, they sell it in tiny jars at petstores, or on Pangea in large bags. I use that and supplement with calcium dusted crickets
