ok,im fairly certain im looking for a crested now, among other things but this first. It gets real hot here in summer and i realy dont think my house gets over 85 much in the summer but every now and then if im not home and the coolers not on will it die from this right away or does it have to be constant too hot for bad things to happen. You guys know what i mean.Cant always run the ac non stop,i have a swamp cooler right now but should have ac soon.Guess if it got too hot i could take it to moms on those weeks. Are they realy that sensetive or does it have to be real bad for a while? And is it real bad to get one at pet co ran by a freind or should i go someplace else.she keeps the place real nice.

I dont think it will die too soon. My cresties tank is 80* in the day and hes fine. In the summer I leave a fan on towards the tank that keeps the temp at about 79

If they go over 80 for more than 30 minutes it can have negative long term effects on them....

Get them in a room where the temp is stable.

Between 80-85 and up they can have internal organ damage.

And why im sayin 80-85, is because some animals have different reactions to different temps.

So its best to keep them in the mid 70's.

well you mentioned 30 minutes and that is hard because im sure the house will reach 80 now and then, maybe a fan like someone suggested. So you think it efects them that fast?

I know where your coming from man,you know i just dont want to get something ill make miserable.I called LLL reptiles and explained the situation. They realy think my house should be fine,i can just find a cooler spot in the house or even place a Ice pack in the tank if its that bad.Just dont want to be an impulse buyer.Lots of herps suffer from that.So you guys stay interested in these guys, prety rewarding or what?:)
